Guided tours are available by appointment only.

Castle scavenger hunts are offered for school classes and children’s groups upon request.

At children’s birthday parties and fairytale evenings, our youngest castle visitors also have the opportunity to experience the time of knights and damsels.

Opening hours

Today, Burg Leuchtenberg is a well-maintained ruin that still clearly reveals its former structure. It offers many interesting details, as well as a year-round exhibition on the castle’s history.

April 1st – October 31st:
Wednesdays to Sundays
10:30 a.m. – 17:00 p.m. geöffnet

Opening hours are extended by one hour between July and August, resulting in the castle closing at 6 p.m. during that period.

The castle is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. On weekends in June and July, access is limited due to afternoon theater performances. The same applies to weekdays during school performances in the second half of June.

Access

Burg Leuchtenberg ruins are located in the town of Leuchtenberg, just a few meters from the A6 motorway, southeast of Weiden. To get there, take the Leuchtenberg exit and then follow the B22 towards Weiden. The castle ruins are about one kilometer off the main road, on a hill to the left of the road.

Visitors are strongly advised to wear sturdy footwear, as there are steps and uneven ground. Please also be careful not to touch the gates, as they are rusty.
